Helen Hoyle

Helen HoyleMy journey into artmaking has been a circuitous one, starting with a degree in Art History, followed by several years writing about women artists in Cornwall. So in a sense my membership of Taking Space completes the circle.

In 2012, my participation in a printmaking course led to a fascination for monoprinting, and the element of the unexpected which is inherent in the process. The discovery of mulberry paper prompted me to incorporate this delicate, semi-transparent material into my work. Since then I have been experimenting with a range of collage materials, and alcohol inks.

Membership of the group has given me the confidence to show my work at venues such as the STISA open exhibitions. Taking Space has opened up opportunities for friendship and a sense of camaraderie which is very supportive.
